after a trial run on Friday, bike2work version 2 officially began today. i'll be riding my bicycle to and from work every day.
why version 2?
so i didnt get my driver's license until grad school... which meant i biked everywhere -- to school, to the store, to work, to home, etc. i didnt keep track, but i know that during my 1-year internship i logged about 3300 miles just getting to and from work. i would estimate in the 9 years i owned that GT Zaskar, i pedaled it close to 10,000 miles.
some jerk stole this bike in Sept 2006. shrugging this travesty off since i had bought my first car in Sept 2005, i became the typical american and began driving everywhere. in Jan 2007 i started work after grad school.
15 months later, i realize how bad it has become. so i buy a bike from the #1 bike mechanic in the world and the guy who introduced me to mountain biking: Scott Paisley of Blue Wheel Bikes in Cville Va.
so, the goal:
the goal is to bike to work every day. to become more fit. to enjoy life more. to drive my car less. to help with climate change. to meet fun people that read this blog.
activity for you:
if you ride a brick red GT Zaskar with a red Serfas seat, Kore stem, and RockShox, that you picked up at Plantation Rd Unmanned Systems Lab in Sept 2006:
you're not cool at all. give me back my bike. email slowisdead@gmail.com
